St. Catherine Faith Formation

Our Mission for our Youth:

To grow in close relationship with Jesus Christ while forming them in their Catholic Faith.  Praise Jesus!

St. Catherine Faith Formation relies on volunteers to share their love of Jesus with our youth.

Students are encouraged to personally encounter Jesus through scripture, prayer and the Sacraments while being a vital part of St. Catherine's Body of Christ.

Please keep our families in your prayers.  This will be a year of new adventures!

The Faith Formation Program welcomes all children ages 4 yrs to Seniors in High School.

Faith Formation Schedule

Start of year schedule for Faith Formation 2020-21

Children's Liturgy of the Word - Begins Sunday, September 20

8:30 am Mass - Children 4 years old - 4th grade are dismissed by Msgr. Gerald Kosse and experience the readings in a child friendly language while completing a project to connect the students with The Word of God.  (Children's Liturgy of the Word will occur every Sunday - unless noted otherwise – through the month of May if possible)

Faith Formation

Our options look different this year. We need to keep class sizes smaller than normal as we cannot accommodate everyone at our regular times and abide by social distancing guidelines.  We are adding class options on Sundays as well as Online and Distance Learning options.

Here are some notes on a couple items that you may want to consider:

  • Online learning can be done with our current curriculum for grades 1-8 like we did a few years ago with “Flipped Classroom”.  Taking home workbooks and text books is also an option.
    • For those who choose Online/Distance Learning there will be the option of once a month Zoom check-in chats with a teacher to make sure things are going smoothly and to have connection.
  • For High School Students who want to do Online learning, they will have the option to join the in-person class via Zoom.
    • We will require them to have their camera on so we can see their faces and know they are participating.
    • For those who choose in-person classes we will follow the following protocols (note these are subject to change):
      • Due to the schools’ schedules being in a state of constant flux, for the Wednesday after school session we ask that kids do not arrive until 3:45 pm and classes will start at 4:00 pm. With 3 different school districts to consider and the possibility of the end of the school day ranging from 1:30 pm to after 3:00 pm, and changing every few weeks, we are hoping this will help maintain as much routine as possible. We will not walk the kids directly from school, serve snack or have pre-class playtime. This was a very hard decision and we know it’s a big adjustment. Our hope is that if this will not work for your family, that perhaps the Sunday option will be a good alternative. Walking groups, snacks and pre-class play time will hopefully be reinstated as Covid settles down, but to start the year this will be our policy.
      • Our classrooms will maintain social distancing with desks 6 feet apart.
      • Masks will be required in the building for all students, staff, teachers and volunteers.
      • Hand sanitizer will be in every class room and used on entering and exiting the room.
      • Children will have their temperature taken upon arrival and those with a temp of 100 degrees or higher will not be allowed to stay.  If parents are with the child at drop-off we will ask that the child return home with them. If parents are not with the child, the child will be brought (with an adult volunteer) to be isolated and parents will be called.

For those of you choosing to do in-person classes, please do consider our Sunday options. We need to spread the numbers out in order to safely hold any classes.  That being said, more classes means a huge need for more volunteers, especially teachers! (As in previous years tuition is waived for children of catechists, but we still need the form.)  Areas we need help with: Catechist, Substitute Catechist, Children's Liturgy of the Word (Sundays during Mass), Snack Server*, Substitute Snack Server*, Outside/Playground Helper*, Walkers* & Drivers*.

*if able to reinstate in coming weeks/months.

If you have any questions about registration, the options or volunteering, please do not hesitate to contact Nicole!

Totus Tuus

Totus Tuus -- “Totally Yours”
Totus Tuus is a summer Catholic youth program dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through evangelization, catechesis, Christian witness, and Eucharistic worship. Our week-long Parish Summer Catechetical Program and Summer Camps assist parents and parishes in the evangelizing and catechizing of their youth by supplementing the work they are already doing. The methodology, structure, content, and enthusiasm of Totus Tuus is concerned not only with teaching the faith, but also igniting the hearts of the team members and young people. The result has been the formation of young adults who continue to dedicate themselves to the Church’s mission of evangelization.
